About Us
The Toowoomba Pistol Club was established in Collier Street Toowoomba in 1959, being one of the first two clubs established in Queensland.
Pistol shooting in Australia was introduced prior to the 1956 Melbourne Olympics to enable the then shooting fraternity the opportunity to compete against the world in this exciting sport.
Although we owe the Olympic Pistol matches a great deal for our existence today, much has changed over the years, with a number of other shooting disciplines being introduced.

Due to residential expansion in Toowoomba the club made plans to relocate, and after a lot of investigation finally settled on our present site, and purchased the freehold title in 1982. It was not until 1985 that the first range was opened to shooting at Helidon. The “Club” became incorporated in September 1990.
The Club currently has five individual ranges established for pistol and rifle shooting, although there are limitations set by the Queensland Police Weapons Branch as to calibres, muzzle energy and type.

The general range of firearms fall between calibres of .177 (4.5mm) to .380 (9.65mm).
The T.P.C. regularly conducts a variety of different shooting disciplines and promotes interclub competition throughout the year with open and invitation shoots. Within two hours driving (or less) of Toowoomba members can compete at over ten individual pistol clubs, most of which conduct regular weekly shoots and Open and State or National titles on a regular basis.
The T.P.C. currently has competition matches on Saturdays and Wednesday morning and at other times on a ad hoc basis including Air Pistol most Thursday evenings. The Shooting Calendar is available here. Approved Members may use the ranges throughout the week between the hours of 08.00 and 22.00.
The T.P.C. is happy to show prospective members over the club, discuss the many aspects of our activities and give them an opportunity to use a pistol on the range.
An appointment for this is necessary by phoning the Secretary on 0438 178 723 with several days notice.
One Saturday morning a month we conduct a “Come and Try” day where for $50.00 non members can try their hand at Pistol Shooting.
You need to be over the age of 11 years, have no criminal history, be able to produce a form of photo I.D. and complete a Weapons Act “Form 33” to be eligible to handle a pistol on an approved pistol range.
